Coupling personal experiences with practical tips, Berger creates a story that not only resonates with readers, but responds to the question, “What is it like to live with PNES?” Berger’s book brings to the table a perspective that has long been missing from the PNES conversation – that of an actual patient. Anecdotes of her own ups and downs and an unflinchingly honest commentary on this condition set this book apart from others in its category. It’s not the view of a doctor or a friend, it’s the view of a patient – the view from the floor. This is a truly unique and invaluable PNES resource that will add to a growing movement that is undeniably taking this forgotten condition out of the shadows and into the light. - Lorna Myers Ph.D.

By Amazon Customer View From The Floor provides the perfect balance of insight, honesty, wit and encouragement for non-PNES and PNES patients alike. This book is no doubt a valuable resource for those with PNES; however, it is also extremely valuable for anyone coping with a wide variety of life's unpleasant and often under communicated issues such as mental health problems. The overall message I received was one of acceptance. Learning to accept life's circumstances while changing what you can and letting go of what is out of your control. Readers are encouraged to acknowledge physical limitations while thinking outside of the box to redefine success in their lives.Even though I do not have PNES, I do battle ongoing anxiety and depression. I was able to apply much of Berger's advice to my own life while learning more about this rare disorder. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking motivation in their life, especially those who are experiencing manageable depression or anxiety, debilitating depression such as suicidal thoughts or limiting physical conditions. Berger has a unique gift of instilling a sense of "I can do this" attitude that will provide you with the push you need to not only fight through life's challenges, but have some fun while you do it.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Finally, I have found I am not alone. By Jenni ith so few resources out there on PNES, I am elated to say I have finally fouqnd some true information and true advice. While reading the book "View From the Floor" by Kate Berger I exclaimed to my husband Omg this lady is me! We are the same. She was able to put into words what I couldnt. It is so nice to not feel alone in this battle that feels never-ending....One of mt favorite quotes from the book: "PNES stripped away the facade of power I had built for myself. It revealed a reality about life I so often like to hide from - ultimately, I am not in control. I couldn't control the PNES diagnosis, and I couldn't control my body during the episodes. The act of having a seizure, particularly while you are conscious and aware of what your body is doing, is truky the definition of powerless." -Kate Berger
