About the Author John Ross MacDuff was born May 23, 1818 in Bonhard, Scotland. He died at his home in Chislehurst, Kent, England on April 30, 1895. John Ross MacDuff was a Presbyterian minister and a prolific writer of excellent Christian books and materials. He was especially known for the practical, poetic, and devotional qualities of his work. He was also a published poet and hymn writer. John Ross MacDuff had Doctor of Divinity Degrees from the University of Glasgow and the University of New York. He served as a pastor for many years in several churches, including the Church of Scotland. One of the hymns John Ross MacDuff wrote the words for was Christ Is Coming! - Published in 1853.

OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS I HAVE EASILY READ HUNDREDS OF BOOKS BY CHRISTIAN AUTHORS AND HAVE FOUND THIS ONE (AS WELL AS OTHERS BY THE SAME AUTHOR) TO BE OF THE MOST ENCOURAGING AND SPIRITUALLY ENHANCING AVAILABLE.ALL THE MATERIALS THAT I HAVE READ BY J.R. MCDUFF HAVE PROVEN TO BE WELL WORTH MY TIME AND INVESTMENT. I SELDOM WRITE REVIEWS, BUT JUST COULD NOT LET THIS BOOK BE SO SUPERFICIALLY DISMISSED WITHOUT AT LEAST A MINOR PROTEST--CHRIST IS PREEMINENT IN ALL OF MCDUFF'S LITERATURE!

I have probably 15-20 of J R MacDuff's books and they are all written devotionally. His style is very clear and deeply devotional. The writer of the 1-star review admitted he/she hadn't even read the book. If the writer of that particular review is looking for the words of Jesus and no more - stick to reading the Bible!

I have finish this book of 31 chapters and will do the same, one chapter a day and then read the chapter it speaks of in the Bible. God word is food for our soul. I love the word of Jesus. Do your spirit a blessing and put this book in your heart. This beautiful book of the words of . Jesus is a guide for my daily walk with our lord Jesus!!!!! (God bless each person that reads this book and puts it in, their heart. Amen)
