About the Author William Smith, MS, NSCA-CSCS, MEPD, completed his B.S. in exercise science at Western Michigan University followed by a master’s degree at St. John's University where he was the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. In addition to his many years working in fitness, Will currently works for the #1 rated health system in New Jersey. He is an avid athlete participating in soccer, rugby, triathlons, and marathons. Will has been featured on NBC, Canyon Ranch, and World Spinning Conference. David Kirschen has over 20 years of experience in personal training, coaching, education, and club management. He earned a B.S. in physical education from SUNY Cortland, and is a respected presenter and coach for a number of professional training seminars along the East Coast, including the elitefts.net Learn to Train series. He is an active professional powerlifter who has been ranked #1 in the United States. Julia Ladewski, CSCS, is an Elite level powerlifter in three different weight classes and a physique competitor. She is also a coach to athletes, women, men, powerlifters, crossfitters, fitness enthusiasts, recreational lifters and those seeking body transformation. Julia was a Division I University strength & conditioning coach from 2002-09 at the University at Buffalo. The gym can be very intimidating for woman just starting out. The knowledge of the importance of weight training is out there but hardly practiced among average females. This book gives an executed jump start to building confidence and muscles : ) The team of experts really display their knowledge and we hope there's a volume II in the future.

By happygirl I bought this book for myself because I am a total "newbie" to strength training. I have never lifted before in my life and was floundering as to know proper form, different exercises, etc. My husband was slightly offended, what with being a guy and all who lifted throughout high school and took classes, but I wanted to gain some knowledge on my own. This book was very informative and even has some workouts printed at the end of the book to help guide you depending on your fitness level. After finishing this book I went out and bought my own equipment so that I could lift in the comfort of my own home. This book is a great resource to me and I think would be to anyone who needs guidance in this department. Good job Mr Kirschen!
