It should have been an open and shut murder case, but Mia Quinn finds out nothing about it is simple.

After a young Chinese prostitute is stabbed to death by her rich American client, the tabloids dub Dandan Yee “Lethal Beauty”—despite the fact that she was the one who ended up dead. Yet even with double standards and naked prejudice working against her, Seattle prosecutor Mia Quinn is determined to get justice for Dandan Yee.

But when a key witness goes missing and an unsavory juror shuts down deliberations without explanation, Mia fears the trial—and the law—are being tampered with.

A constellation of fresh killings has Mia and homicide detective Charlie Carlson searching for a common source and puts Mia’s family in the crosshairs of a Chinese crime cabal. Meanwhile, Dandan Yee’s mother has opted to take matters into her own hands . . . and the stakes get more lethal overnight.

In the midst of all this, Mia has to contend with a fifteen-year-old son who is growing up too fast for his own good and the idea that Charlie might want to be more than just friends. Can Mia and Charlie stop the murders and still keep her family safe? Or is the very act of seeking justice enough to cost her everything—and everyone—she loves?

Review 'Fans of J.D. Robb's Lt. Eve Dallas or The Closer's Brenda Leigh Johnson will appreciate strong female protagonist Quinn. In addressing the tough social issues of sex trafficking and domestic slavery in sometimes graphic detail, the best-selling coauthors combine skillfully multiple story lines with realistic characters and a palpable tension that keep the pages turning. The spiritual message is subtle: evil is everywhere, but where there is faith and people willing to fight for what is right, good will prevail.' (starred review) (Library Journal)'In Wiehl and Henry’s page-turning third Mia Quinn mystery (after 2014’s A Deadly Business).... The book moves effortlessly from one interesting character to another.' (Publishers Weekly)“New York Times bestselling author Wiehl has written a high-stakes suspense that starts with the very first page. Lethal Beauty, book three in the “Mia Quinn Mystery” series, has all of the elements of a top notch mystery: missing witnesses, jury tampering, and a parent that tries to take justice into her own hands.” – CBA Retailers + Resources (CBA Retailers + Resources)“The third installment of Wiehl’s Mia Quinn series takes the action and intrigue up another notch. The suspense is exciting throughout, with international ties and a fascinating side story about Mia’s son that is quite pertinent for today’s reader.” – Romantic Times (Romantic Times)'Wiehl's partnership with Henry brings out her humanity without the supernatural side that emerges in her other books written with Pete Nelson.Fans of Mia Quinn (A Deadly Business, 2014, etc.) will find this a well-considered addition to the series. Can Mia and Charlie stop the murders and still keep her family safe? Or is the very act of seeking justice enough to cost her everything—and everyone—she loves?Review: The book was very interesting. I really liked to see the main characters return. The storyline was sad. It was very well written and realistic. I did find it easy to read overall. The theme of human trafficking is tragic and difficult to identify in real life. The sideline story of Gabe and steroids was understandable at the end, but not as believable for me. It seemed to deviate from Gabe’s character. Overall the book was worth the read and had a quick wrap up. I really liked how the finally concluded. For me it was the perfect way to wrap it up because I like a big final scene, this topic is very real for people and I was glad to see the ending being quick and final. The bad men seemed to have eyes and ears everywhere, without anything stopping them from silencing those that threatened their interests. Sometimes, evil seems to have the upper hand and this alone is scary. I liked the unravelling of this evil, which became disorganized and desperate. The main character seems disconnected at times from God, and the faith side of the story was limited. I hoped to see a growth in Mia Quinn in her faith. The previous books seemed to be drawing her closer to God, but that seemed to be sidelined in this story. That was my only disappointment with the story.I would like to thank Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

In this novel Mia is prosecuting a man who is accused of killing a Chinese immigrant working in a "massage parlor". Following the hung jury verdict, Mia's not taking no for an answer. She continues to try and find a way of bringing the murderer to justice. She stumbles into an evil web the Chinese undocumented immigration, and the underground world of slavery, prostitution, and drugs. I found this book brought to mind many things that I know to be true, yet had not put together. "Lethal" is probably the best book of the series. Wiehl didn't include the football player in this one, so he was sorely missed; however, I liked that the series took a turn to focus more on Mia. The reader became more involved with her children and work place. The women in this book became more of the heroes as well. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from www.booklookbloggers.com.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. The simplistic and undeveloped writing could have been better classified as a Young Adult read By los I picked up this book as Wiehl/Henry are "New York Times bestselling author" (jacket quote despite the two authors) and the Library Journal review on the jacket compared it to John Grisham legal suspense thrillers. I wish I was more aware of the second jacket reviewer, RT Reviews, which turns out to be Romantic Times book reviews, which is a head scratcher for me, as this book had little romance to it. The simplistic and undeveloped writing could have been better classified as a Young Adult read, for the sexual tension in this book was adolescent, not the story of a 40-something professional prosecutor ("the time he had asked her to brunch? He never said the word *date*.... She didn't know whether she was angry or disappointed."). Character development was minimal, or about 15 chapters late. The plot is reasonable, and takes on a serious issue (illegal immigration and subsequent slavery). However, the story unfolds in a sporadic manner, and plot portions can become unrealistic. It lacked attention to detail, suspense, thrills, and the in-depth developed writing of a Grisham novel, but I can see this book as entertaining for some as a fast beach read.
