Very few outlets share that it affects not only teen girls, but girls AND boys of all ages. I am a middle age Potsie, and my son is a NCS teenager - both clinically diagnosed. As an avid researcher, I stumbled upon this book, so I purchased it. WOW. The way it is put together, for both those that understand medical terminology and those who require Layman's terms, it is all spelled out. This book was so good, I ordered a few more copies. Why? I presented this book to my doctor. I am the first case she has ever seen, so through me she is learning (Yes, I got lucky to have a doctor who actually LISTENS and is willing to LEARN). She was so ecstatic, because she said she thinks she may have another patient with it as they are showing similar symptoms to mine, and without me, she'd have never caught it. She is looking forward to reading this, obtaining the CME's, and I asked that she pass it on to other colleagues to read and learn as well. Now, upon receipt of my next copies, I will distribute to more of my doctors, and again ask that they too pass it on when finished. The more we, as Dysautonomia sufferers learn about our conditions, the more we can in turn educate doctors. Yes, it sounds backwards, but when dealing with rare or never heard of medical issues/diseases/syndromes, it is left in our hands to do the work. This book? Makes that job extremely simple. I recommend everyone get at least two - one for you, one for your doctor. Spread awareness and knowledge, that is the only way we'll find help.

If only this book had been around then!! It is thoughtfully organized so that physicians as well as patients and family members can read and understand more about this spectrum of illness. It goes over symptoms and what to look for, testing, the latest treatments, and illnesses that are often seen alongside dysautonomia. Perhaps most importantly -- it teaches us about the autonomic nervous system - so we can actually understand what's happening to our bodies and why we feel how we do. I'm going to be handing these out to my doctors!

I already knew a lot about dysautonomia and POTS, but this book helped tie everything together a little more. It's written in a way that is easy to understand. As a nurse, I enjoyed reading both the "patient" and "physician" sides. Highly recommend for anyone who has a problem with the autonomic nervous system or suspects a problem. I have shared my book with my PCP and look forward to reviewing some topics with him from the book.
