Urban Books’ popular Girls From da Hood series is back, bringing readers more dramatic tales about the lives of some tough, resourceful women who can hold their own when things get rough on the streets. This time, Redd, Nikki-Michelle, and Erick S. Gray deliver the stories with their trademark flair.Like a hood-rich Bonnie and Clyde, Candy and Raynail have their hands on all of the drugs that run through the veins of Westwood. When Raynail is set up to take the fall for a crime he didn’t commit, Candy goes on a mission to take down everyone involved.Baby and G.G. should be thinking about high school, but their minds are definitely not on studying. These two are tight like sisters, and they have each other’s backs no matter what—until Baby comes up with a plan that involves blackmailing someone to kill G.G.’s man. When these two cousins clash, the shock wave will be felt throughout the hood.Vix Dixon is an upscale ghetto-girl that no man in his right mind wants to cross. She’s a predator who preys on the weak. Her mission? To have any man or woman she wants by any means necessary. Now, she’s set her sights on her teacher, Alex Rodriguez, and he bites the apple instead of a bullet. By the time Alex realizes just what he’s gotten himself into, hell on earth will have a different meaning for him.

With the exception of the book by Redd her story is the reason why I would recommend borrowing the book but the other stories made this book suck!

When Raynail is set up for a crime he didn't commit it comes down to his street tough wife, Candy to make those responsible pay. I thought that this was a pretty good story. It wasn't my favorite in this anthology. In all honesty, I thought it was missing something. *I give it 2.5 Stars*Dangerous by Nikki Michelle- Now this story was wild!!! I loved it!! This story was about a young girl named Vix and her obsession with her teacher Alex. At least at first. As you delve into this story you find that there is so much more going on. Everything from a love entanglement so bizarre it will leave your mouth hanging open like, Huh???, to murder, with a side of revenge to wrap it up nicely. And right in the middle of it all is Vix. A girl who has been through much in her young life and found ways to survive. Even if it was not always the right thing. With the skeletons in her closet tumbling out, she has to try to keep it all together. I cannot wait for the next installment of this story. *I give it 5 Stars*Dirty Girls by Erick S Gray- This story was about two best friends and cousins Baby and G.G. This story tests their relationship as well as their morals. In the mix is Sampson. An Ex Marine who has death running through his veins. And when he gets involved in the lives of these two things go from bad to worse. I liked this story a lot. I felt that it had depth and it was written very well. *I gave it 4 Stars*

Candy was a force to be reckoned with and I thought she was a very interesting character. This story could have used a little more depth and probably would have been better as a full novel.I give it 3 stars.Dangerous by Nikki Michelle- This was my least favorite story and it was beyond weird.I felt like the author tried too hard to throw in twists that it made everything seem so far fetched. By the time I got done reading this I was beyond perplexed.I give it a 2.5Dirty Girls by Erick S Gray- As usual they saved the best for last and Erick did not dissapoint. This was the longest story in the book but my favorite. Everything was on point from the character development,plot,ending,etc...I loved this one and I give it a solid 4 stars. As a whole I rate this anthology a 3.5. I remember when the first couple of Girls from the Hood books came out and every story was fire. Now out of 3 stories you only get one great one. Even though anthologies are a good way to sample a new authors work I think the publisher should stick with the vets when doing these because they are usually the ones who come with that one great story that actually saves the whole book, and thats just from my observation of being an avid reader of these anthologies.
