About the Author Leon Logothetis is a TV host, producer, author, traveler and all around good guy. Formerly a London broker, he gave up his comfortable life to travel and find real human connection. He is the host of “The Amazing Adventures of A Nobody” which was licensed to National Geographic International and aired in over 100 countries, including in the United States on Fox Reality Channel and Canada’s OLN. He is also the author of a book by the same title. He has appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, FOX, BBC among other mainstream media outlets. He runs a production company called Principal Media and lives in Los Angeles, CA with his dog Winston.

14 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Normally I can find something good in any book, I mean "something"..... Not so with this book! Save your time. By doug w draper First book I ever wanted to return for a refund! The buyer of this book should know that the author takes a camera crew with him to film from a distance how he gets people to pay for his gas, lodging etc, as he travels around the world on a yellow motorcycle. The camera crew is a dead give away that he did this book strictly for economic gain, he was not on some existential journey. One of my points is that if people were not being filmed they would have simply thought he was just another homeless guy looking for a free ride causing his trip to take forever. Which if possible would have made the book even more boring. People are much more giving when they think someone is watching them or somehow they feel like they got "credit" for the help. Skipping the camera crew problem, the writing is bland, the story is bland. I would rather watch paint dry than read this book!

I understand that he gave to some people who helped him but it seemed weird to me to judge who was worthy and who wasn't. Plus, I felt like the goal of bumming money and supplies off of people and looking for people who look like they would do be generous seemed sort of manipulative. I also wondered at the end if he and his girlfriend got married. On the other hand, I like thinking about kindness and doing things that are "different" but nowadays these "personal journey writings" seem ubiquitous. I didn't feel that I had learned anything or was challenged or enlightened or different at the end of the book so that was a bummer. I am curious what other people thought!
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. It could change the life of the right person at the right time By Gloria Chan I read on average 2-3 books a week and I very seldom write reviews. I think "The Kindness Diaries" touches and inspires me as much as "Mountains Beyond Mountains" (the story of Dr Paul Farmer, my first role model). That's why I was very interested in why people did not like it. I can understand why some thought it was an "ego trip" and that he was a "free loader", but even if that was true, I see nothing wrong with him feeling good about himself ("ego trip") and choosing a "free loader" route to fulfill his dream. Being the founder of the Asheville Pay It Forward Network, "free loader" doesn't exist in the dictionary of people who freely give. People who ask for help are actually providing us with the opportunity to experience the joy of giving and to remind us that we are here to pay-it-forward. The beauty of pay-it-forward is that everyone can do it in their own ways. I believe his way has inspired (and will) a lot of people and it's a great way to get the message across. I applaud him for what he did, even though I will not venture out of my house, let alone around the world, without money. People should learn to appreciate the good in others and to accept our differences. If this book doesn't speak to you, then your are not the right person, or perhaps it's not the right time.
