From the bestselling authors of Last Hit comes the next in the steamy series that explores the exquisite power of our darkest passions . . .Regan: I never really knew what misery was until the day I was kidnapped and sold for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Two months later, I’m at a brothel in Rio when I meet Daniel Hays. He says he’s here to save me, but can I trust him? All I know of him are his sarcastic retorts and his tendency to solve every dispute with his gun. He’s also the only safe thing in my world, and I know it’s wrong to fall in love with him, but I can’t seem to help myself. He says he’ll protect me until his last breath, but I don’t know if I should believe him or even if I can.Daniel: For the last eighteen months, one goal has dictated every action I’ve taken. I’ve left the Army, turned paid hit man, and befriended criminals all across the globe to find my kidnapped sister. In every brothel I raid and every human trafficking truck I stop, I hope the next face I find is my sister’s. In a hidden brothel in Rio, I find Regan Porter, bruised but not broken, and still sane despite her weeks in captivity. I should leave her behind or send her home, because the last thing either of us needs right now is to get involved. But with every passing minute, I find I’m less able to let her go.MATURE AUDIENCE

Richards After reading book 1 (Last Hit (Hitman)), I was worried how Regan's story would be handled. I'm picky about how an abused/raped heroine is handled. I need it to not be glossed over, but I also don't want to be sad or upset the entire story. I need to believe that my heroine is ready for romance, and I think Regan's progression from a scared woman who distrusts men to that of a woman ready to trust and feel intimacy again, with Daniel, felt right to me.Their romance is slow in the beginning, and caring, and I can't think of a better hero to offer passion, safety and kindness to a heroine like Regan. The sexy times don't really happen until about half-way through the story, and I liked that a lot. It set just the right tone for me. And when they are together, it was hot and sexy because Daniel was patient and giving. And it's so odd to say that, since he's an assassin, but there's so much to like and love about this hero. He's good and bad, whatever is necessary to get a job done, but you never forget that there is something ultimately noble about Daniel. He's that alpha male protector, and I thought he was great, one of the best, sweetest and most tender heroes I've read in a while. Just the man for a woman like Regan, damaged but not broken, vulnerable but strong. These two were made for each other, and I believed every moment they had together.Great chemistry with this couple and a sweet intimacy, too. It's so hot to read a sex scene that is both erotic and caring. There's a nice amount of action/danger in the story, but I never thought it overshadowed my romance. It built, growing stronger and deeper, and that's really my main impression of this book 2: a sweet, caring, and hot romance. Very happy with how this felt, and am really looking forward to the next book in the series. Should be very interesting, to say the least!

I lost interest only a few chapters in and gave up. I didn't like the main character or the story line. I did however enjoy reading the first book in this series.

Inaccuracy By a reader from Brazil I'm still at the very beginning of the book but I must comment about a huge inaccuracy: prostitution is not legalized in Brazil. Let's clarify some facts: Brazil is a civilized country, with a constitution and criminal laws. We don't have monkeys running around the streets. And although we have a very large area covered with rain forest, there's much more to this country. So, I would ask Ms. Clare to get her facts straight before writing because it's very sad for a Brazilian citizen to read a book with this kind of mistake. A little research wouldn't be amiss.Oh, and btw, we don't speak Spanish, so the American consulate (and not the embassy) is called Consulado Geral dos Estados Unidos and not Consulado General dos Estados Unido. The Embassy is called Embaixada Americana or Embaixada dos Estados Unidos da América.
