Having read her novella in the Baby, It’s Cold Outside anthology, I had already gotten a taste of the Dempseys and was ready for more. They are a family of foster siblings following in their late foster father’s firefighting footsteps. This book mainly focuses on Luke with a subplot featuring his brother Gage. Flirting with Fire was sexy and fun. I absolutely love series that focus on families, and I believe Meader is going to have a winner with this family.Luke Almeida is a hot firefighter dedicated to his job and his family. He would do anything for his brothers and sister. Kinsey Taylor works for the mayor’s office and has been tasked with handling a PR situation created by Luke. Right off the bat the pair were butting heads and I loved every minute of it. Kinsey was a strong woman and good at her job. She had recently been burned by her fiancé, but she did not let that affect her career. The push and pull between her and Luke was delicious. It seemed as if they lived to challenge one another.It didn’t take very long for Luke to steal my heart with his commitment to his family and the children in his community. That man was quite amazing, as was his bond with his siblings. I especially loved the scenes with cocky Gage. The dynamics between all of them were beyond entertaining. I am excited to see what Meader has up her sleeve for us next with Alex’s story. Flirting with Fire was full of witty banter, fantastic sexual tension, and endearing characters. I am looking forward to spending more time with the Dempsey family in the future.*An advance copy of this book was received in exchange for an honest review.*
10 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Waste of time By Not Telling This book was not only bad, the editing also sucked. Josie was sometimes referred to as Jodie, words weren't spelled correctly, and sentences didn't make sense. The character of Kinsey (stupid name by the way) was unlikeable and stupid. I felt terrible for Luke, he deserved someone a hell of a lot sweeter, not to mention less superficial, someone who wasn't whining about her Jimmy Choos and then complaining about how she had to take a pay cut for a new job in a new place. There were really no good qualities about her at all. She wasn't interesting, and poor Luke was so battered by life and determined to protect his family and himself, and Kinsey comes along and just makes it worse. She only caused him more problems, I felt like. I didn't finish it, although I kept trying, kept hoping every time I picked it up it would get better. I was wrong. Also, the writing was very juvenile. The dialogue was way too modern, and by modern I mean like teenager-immature-talk. MAYBE I'll read Alex's book, if this author practices more realistic and professional writing skills and gets any better.

Great story with great characters that left me completely and thoroughly satisfied! I'm really looking forward to the next book... :)This series revolves around the Dempsey family who were all raised together as foster children. They now all work as firefighters in the same unit. Luke is the guy that has elected himself as guardian of his foster brothers and sister. Because of a haunted past, he is obsessed with making sure they are safe and protected. He also has a nasty temper that got him into a bit of trouble with the Mayor. That's where Kinsey steps into the picture. She works for the mayor and it's her job to fix the PR nightmare that Luke has caused. But, she got more than she bargained for when she meets Luke for the first time and tries to organize a plan to save his reputation.This first book revolves mostly around Luke and Kinsey. I loved their love/hate relationship in the beginning. But, as the layers of their past unfold, they find healing and happiness in each others arms. Oh, and lots of "heat"... let's not forget the heat!There is also a very enticing M/M romance blooming with fellow firefighter Gage and ex-marine Brady. Gage is a self-proclaimed man-whore who knows he's hot and good looking. He's just little bit vain... yep, just a smidgen. Brady is a 5 star Chef who also rides a Harley, is covered in tattoos and doesn't talk much. Gage is drawn to Brady but Brady is mysteriously hands off. By the end of the book I was completely won over by Brady... I really want to know more about him. I think he may be just the medicine Gage needs for his self-absorbed ego. Should be interesting... their relationship is only just getting started.We also have lots to look forward to with all of the other Dempsey family members. Too much to name but the author has done a fantastic job setting up what it surely to be a very entertaining series.My favorite part of the book?? Hands down the filming of the fireman calendar... lots of giggles there... and who can resist a fireman holding a sweet little kitten?? Not me... :)
