Rondeau In this last book of the Burrowes’ Sweetest Kisses series, we get to see the eldest Knightley brother find his soul mate. Naturally we have met MacKenzie in the previous two books - strong, handsome and all that, but he’s always kept to himself. Finally we discover the reasons for his self imposed celibacy.Sidonie Lindstrom is a foster mom who’s moved to the farmhouse where the Knightley brothers had grown up. Sid is grieving the loss of her beloved brother, and worried sick that she might lose the Luis her foster son. She has no love for lawyers, in fact despises them, so when Mac drives up in his blacksmith truck to help her out when she discovers two huge draft horses in her pasture, she was able to lower her defenses and allow Mac help her out and figured he was a nice solid guy. Got along with her foster son; was not too hard on the eyes; and let herself more or less fall in love.Mac was very supportive and when the new DSS agent came around to inspect Luis and Sid’s home she was aware that this social service agent was nothing but trouble. Mac agreed, and when the DSS agent implied that the property would not be a suitable place for foster care, Mac was Johnny-on-the-spot with getting the property set to rights with the help of neighbors and his brothers.Ms. Burrowes goes on to indulge the reader in another court case where good people have to challenge the foster care system and endless rules that are often not in the best interest of the children. It also serves to show where a lot of the endless jokes of bad lawyers come from and that not all lawyers, should be judged by the one’s that drop the ball.Bottom line: Burrowes develops strong characters, complex plotting, subtle humor and believable scenarios, that are refreshing with an eloquent voice. What more could one ask for?Marilyn Rondeau

Now, I find her contemporary romance also sparkles and sizzles with complex characters, subtle humor, and multilayered storytelling. Her unique way of weaving words together to enthrall is amazing .She reaches in and touches the reader’s heart in a compelling way that makes one feel as if the characters are real. These characters grip the reader’s emotions and take that reader on a vicarious journey to be remembered.Sidonie Lindstrom moves her grief and her foster son to Damon Count Maryland—to country living that she knows nothing about. She’s petite, pretty, and sassy with amazing courage. But she carries a load of guilt deep inside is crushing.Luis, her teenage son of mixed ethnic heritage, loves his foster mom, but he keeps himself at a certain distance, for he too has more than his share of guilt.Mackenzie Knightley, the farrier who comes to Sidonie’s aid when she discovers two huge horses on her newly bought property, makes his living as a criminal lawyer. His back story enthralls. He is big and arrestingly handsome with a ”peat smoke” voice. His compassion and his caring ways with people and horses belie his courtroom persona. With people and horses he takes time to do little things—to pet, to feed—to talk to and gently lecture in his own special way. He too, like Sidonie and Luis, has guilt issues plus deep secrets that set him apart. The secondary characters, like Mackenzie’s brothers and their loved ones, play big roles in the unfolding of the plot. They add depth and believable to the story. The humor, work ethic, compassion, and can-do problem solving attitude keep Kiss Me Hello throbbing with activity and solid with quiet determination while love wiggles its way amongst it all to weaves its magic spell. However, there is an undercurrent of anxiety that keeps the reader just a little uneasy early on in the story and builds as an antagonist, that I really, really came to dislike, uses position and power to try to wreak havoc on lives. How Grace Burrowes gets matters resolved is different, daring, and delightful. Kiss Me Hello is wonderful reading!originally posted at long and short reviews

Kiss Me Hello By sarah brown Sometimes there will come along a series that you absolutely fall in love with, eventually that series that you adore is going to come to an end, unfortunately Kiss Me Hello is the last book in this trilogy and I am devastated, from the very first book I've been enraptured by the three Knightley brothers and their pursuit of a happily ever after. There is only one complaint I have about this series, and that is a lack of an epilogue, I want to know what's happening two-three years later, pregnancies, marriages, adoptions and the law firm, I just feel like a lot of people who have read these books would want to know, not just me, but that's a tiny detail that I can overlook as much as it kills me because these books are awesome!Throughout the first two books the eldest Knightley brother Mackenzie 'Mac' has been an enigma, you don't really find out that much about his character at all, that's why I was so excited to read this book and finally discover who this man is and why he's been celibate for the last ten years, never showing any interest in women in that whole time, that is until he meets Sidonie 'Sid' and her foster son Luis who recently moved into his childhood home, through the appearance of two work horses Daisy and Buttercup that used to belong to the Knightley family, he gets to know Sid and Luis, and helps her fight to keep Luis with the threat of him being moved elsewhere after DSS fails to do their job properly. With both Mac and Sid having secrets that have affected both their lives up to now, can they both accept each other's problems and live happily ever after, because you just don't know when a miracle can happen, and make everyone's dreams come true.I cannot praise this series enough or Grace's fantastic writing which have made these books as great as they are, I just really, really, really don't want this series to be over, I've enjoyed each and every word, sentence, paragraph, page and chapter in my journey through the Knightley brothers stories, I wish it would have never ended. An astounding series filled with amazing characters that Grace has crafted to perfection.
