Unlike the first two books set in fictional Cherrico, Mississippi, there was no major drama or conflict and it reads like a flat short story with a happy ending. Yes, there is a wedding (couldn’t you tell by the title?) but nothing happens that makes the reader say “Yes! I cannot wait for the next installment!” When I re-read the back cover summary after finishing the book this afternoon, I wondered if I purchased an abridged version of this novel. It said, “To get the wedding and the library of her dreams, Maura Beth will have to harness the indomitable spirit of her favorite Southern heroines and the sage advice of the Cherry Cola Book Club.” There was no spirit, only one Southern writer was mentioned and that was in a brief passing, and there was no wedding drama.What I loved: Not much, but there are some great recipes for chicken salad and a crème de menthe cake.What I didn’t love: What was the point of the plot line involving The Twinkle delivery boy and Harlan? Actually – what was the point of anything in the novel having to do with Harlan? Perhaps Ashton Lee plans on expanding this in future books, but it seemed so out of place and pointless in this story.What I learned: You can get tipsy off crème de menthe cake since the liquor is in the frosting, not the sponge.Overall Grade: B-

The Wedding Circle made me laugh, cry and want to slap my mama at times!! The characters remind me so much of people I grew up with along with Ashton in Natchez, Mississippi. His names of characters are wonderful and he does an amazing job of developing each one and you feel like they are your good friends or ....NOT!!! The story about Maura Beth Mayhew and Jeremy McShay planning the wedding of her dreams and the building of the new library in Cherico keeps the reader interested in what will happen next!!! Each character has such a colorful story and Ashton brings fun ones and tense ones of each person for the reader to enjoy!! I loved this book and can't wait to read his next one coming out in September. The Cherry Cola Book Club series has brought many smiles and laughs from home for me and for those who didn't grow up in the south will enjoy finding out what a wonderful experience it was for those of us who did!!! BRAVO Ashton!!! Keep them coming!!!

Wilkinson Being relatively new to the South, I loved how Ashton Lee brought the south to readers; the triple digits of summer, reading Eudora Welty in book clubs, eating chocolate cherry cola sheet cake! I felt that I could close my eyes and see it all. I must say, I related to Cara Lynn's apprehension at what she would find in a small southern town. I felt that same apprehension, but now love living in the South. I thought the testy relationship between Maura Beth and her mother was something a lot of women can relate to. I think it will lead to good discussions about the mother/daughter relationship which is often less than perfect. It was such an inviting book to read and I felt as if I had stepped into Cherico. The book is a very enjoyable read full of wonderful characters, but it did make me very hungry for chocolate cherry cola cake!

Couldn't Put it Down By Idontknow I'm not much of a reader, however in an effort to start reading more, a friend suggested several easy to read/follow books and this was among them. My goal was to read a chapter a day but often would polish off two or more just wanting to know what was going to happen next. The characters are relatable and the story lines interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to just about anyone. I personally don't have much reading experience to compare it to other books, but of the other books I have read, this one was able to keep my attention which is not easy to do. I think the thing that made it most interesting was the authors detailed descriptions of the characters and scenarios. I could vividly imagine these people and the situations they were experiencing. On the surface they were just ordinary people going through their everyday average lives, but through the thoughts of the main character Trey, mundane everyday tasks became something much larger. As a side effect, the book also made me have a renewed appreciation for paper carriers. Don't get me wrong though, the main premise of this book isn't necessarily just about being a paper carrier, that is just one small aspect of a much larger plot.

The one that's too nervous to try to create even your greatest fantasies into reality. Enter Trey, the lead of the story who likes to pretend. More specifically he likes to pretend that the most beautiful teller of his bank is also his girlfriend. But you already saw all that in the description above.Trey is a very lovable character for me. He has his little routines and and quirks that remind me a lot of myself making him very relatable. He spends most of his life in seclusion only to suddenly be thrust into interaction with someone seemingly the opposite of himself, confident, cocky, and cool. Trey tries his best to play into a new friendship and work past his issues to keep a friend, but he may not be the only one in need of help.I'm not great at writing reviews where I can't spoil plot points so I'll have to keep this short. Flowers on Concrete is a book that will start you off asking "What the hell is up with this guy?" only to turn you around have you cheering him on. The humor is there, the cleverness is close behind, and lovable characters take the stage. A great read.

Written by a very knowledgeable scientist Maxwell gives his view of the relationship of mathematics and physics and how people come to understand abstract and foreign ideas. He also gives views on how the sciences and mathematics should be taught in schools. The book is a short read. I even learned that James Clerk Maxwell is a poet.

My wife was loosing hair due to a shampoo and the ginger mixture has started her hair to fill in again. The thin spot is hardly visible. We have added ginger to our diet and have seen amazing results in other areas as well.

It was all pretty random. I loved her ideas on her apartment (I want one like hers) especially the idea of inserting color. I work in senior housing and one of my tenants has lots of orange in her apartment. It makes me smile every time I walk in there. I loved "The black fur ball pillow doubles as both a pet and an armrest." No having to take that outside to go to the bathroom! The bra section, great. I actually clicked on the website of perfect pair bras...because as we age, one is always pointing a little lower than the other! And the best story, her mom and her shoes. I won't give it away, but it is priceless and a must read. Thanks Suzanne, you made me smile more than once and I appreciate that in a book once in awhile. We need more laughter in the world. Now on to shop for lights at Ikea!

Laughter is the best medicine ... but careful not to leak By James Minter Laughter for me is the best medicine since it’s free, does you a power of good and is always available. This book embodies this concept. We all have, or had aging relatives, it’s only when one nears the age of aged that you begin to realise what life has turned into. To have a fun perspective based on hard won experience is a great asset, written and presented in such a compelling way is an added bonus.Maggie, my wife, heard me chuckle and insisted on reading Don’t Pee on my Sofa also. They will make you smile, shed a tear, and shake your head at how little mankind changes over the years. Most of them have a very gentle moral to be learned. I bought the kindle version and am now going to find print copies for myself and a few friends.If you read nothing else in this collection, please read 'A Four-Footed Faith and a Two.' This story about a dog named Stubs will stay with you long after you have finished the last paragraph. I guarantee it.

By Hilary Neesam Sure, Butterworth rides through the pages high on his horse, galloping right up the pedestal and coming to a fast halt at the top. But for every minute I want to kick him and his cocky steed into place, someone does it for me.Butterworth isn’t lovable — hell, tolerable is as kind as I’ll be. But he’s honest. The kind of straightforward you wish you could be but don’t have the balls. For every wise-ass comment he cracks, he says something rather profound and worth taking an extra second to think about.If you’re a dude who has ever been in love, lust, or like, read it. This isn’t a romance novel by any means, but it’s about a guy who has a pretty good grasp on what it’s like to be, well, a guy trying to get by the best he can.On that note, if you’re a chick who has ever been in love, lust, like, read it. Women are crazy-ass bitches. Butterworth says it best, “All members of the female gender are inherently crazy… Legitimately, mentally insane.” You are. You are as delicate as a dying rose, but you are cold and heartless when you want to be. (And if you’re offended by that comment then the author probably doesn’t want you to read this book anyway.) This novel just might give you a better idea of what you’re putting those poor guys through.You’ll read this in a day. Ok, maybe like a week — let's be real, there are more important things to be done in life (Game of Thrones, Gilmore Girls). But truly, this is one you won’t want to put down. In fact, when you’re done reading it, you might just be a little bit better for it.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Short & Sweet By Steven Schilling Author has a pleasurable writing style, and the character's inner monologue is fantastic. The story itself isn't new, nor is it outdated, but the way it's told is particularly unique. Honest and often arrogant, Butterworth is easily relatable and sometimes hateable. The best part about this book is it doesn't try to be anything other than what it is: a story. Looking forward to future works by the author.
